From the side, Genesis quietly observed the two, turning only to hide his smile at Sephiroth's retort. He was glad. He hadn't wanted to see Tseng walk all over him. He could handle the situation, he just needed to believe it and...well, pretending to was half the battle already.

Leaning down so he was next to Sephiroth so only he could hear Tseng kept his voice low. "Just remember Sephiroth..your life isn't the only one at stake here..there is no reset button out here."

Stepping back he looked around, he wasn't trying to walk over Sephiroth, he wanted to make sure he saw these men on the return trip and not in body bags. "Keep your PHS on..i'll call when i have cleared the area of civilians." Turning he jogged off the swords still held loosely in his hands. Absently he reached up gripping a brilliant red materia that hung from a silver chain around his neck, 'Leviathan..guide them.. protect them with your waters..'

If life had a reset button, I'd have used it long before now. Even as the wistful thought formed, he stifled it. This was no time for childish wishes. He had the best ears out of the SOLDIERs present. Hojo had gone on enough about how he was 'better' and being forced to start at the bottom of the ranks and work his way up was a waste of time when he already far more enhanced.

Slipping his PHS from his pocket, he confirmed that it was set to silent, and had plenty of power. It wouldn't be very useful if it died on him, or more annoyingly, drew the attention of one creature or another. Why a model of phone designed for use by SOLDIERs would even have a ringtone function, he wasn't sure. It wasn't as if they needed it. It had less of a charge than he'd have liked, but it would be fine for the time being.

Hiding a wince behind his hair, Genesis rubbed the back of his head, smearing a trail of blood in the process. Lovely, just what he needed was to stink of mako and the metallic tang he always associated with the red stuff. Either way, there wasn't much he could do about it.

He gave the direction Tseng had jogged another glance and turned to Sephiroth, making his way to the Second.

"Orders, sir?"

Sephiroth nodded at the prompt, turning to be sure the rest of the company was paying attention

"Four of the infantry will remain with the transport, preferably ones that have been stationed in Kalm previously." Sephiroth paused a moment, watching as the un-enhanced discussed a few words, four of them splitting off from the rest quickly. He was a little relieved at that, while he had read the names of those assigned to the mission, he'd already forgotten half of them, and hadn't had the time or inclination to check their service records.

Running through what he knew of dragons, he continued, "Any fire-based materia are to be unequipped unless used defensively. Gravity and Time materia are also relatively useless. Once everyone is ready, we'll move out." Another thought had him casting a warning glance over those who would be continuing on with him, "We will not engage until it is confirmed the area is clear, Understood?"

Climbing up onto a low ridge Tseng knelt down pulling a small pair of binoculars from his belt. So far other than a few dorky faces that had tried to attack him the area was clear; most monsters realized that there were things higher up on the food chain floating around and stayed away.

He could hear them closer now, but he had made sure prior to this mission to make sure he wore no scent and bathed in hunters soap so it would kill off his natural body scent. Really you would think they would have taught SOLDIER that, but some of the cologne on those boys in the truck had been giving him a headache.

Scouting the area he sighed; it would seem the villagers were smart and stayed inside the safety of the Village. Pulling his PHS out he dialed in Sephiroth number already knowing it by heart.

Sephiroth lifted a hand to still the movements of the company as he felt a vibration from his PHS. It took a frustratingly long moment for them all to notice, one teen having to be called back with a harsh whisper before he continued on unknowing.

Though he knew not many people had the number, seeing 'Unknown' across the outer screen was still perturbing. Flipping it open, he pressed it to his ear all the same, answering quietly, "Sephiroth."

"What no hello Sephiroth?" Tseng teased situating himself on the rocks and looking around. "You're all clear, no civilians within a five mile radius of the targets' location. Though watch your step as you make your way through charlie sector, there are a few hidden mako pools that you don't see until your almost stepping into them." he pulled the binoculars up once more looking around the area, "Correction make that Bravo and Charlie sector."

putting them back into his pocket Tseng slid back down the hill grunting as he landed a little harder than he planned, his head was pounding. "I'll see you when you arrive Sephiroth."

Bravo and Charlie? Sephiroth tried to recall the sector map he'd looked over when he'd been assigned command of the mission. Like with the personnel list, however, he hadn't even come close to memorizing it, though he had an approximate idea of the area Tseng was speaking of. While the electronic mapping system was widely accessible, the PHS compatibility was still all but nil.

"See you there."

Genesis waited silently. Sephiroth seemed...tense...well, more so then normal and slightly out of his element. It was strange, he mused, the relationship that seemed to be in place between Tseng and his fellow SOLDIER. He had to admit, he was curious. Tseng was a pleasure to tease but he didn't see them getting along too famously. However, he didn't know Sephiroth and rumors were never a good source of accurate information.

Sighing, he shook his head and glanced at the infantry. The rest of the day would be interesting, to say the least...

Flipping his phone shut he resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at the device, yes he could be childish when he wanted to be. Reaching down he absently rubbed his ankle, he would curse till the day he died for having weak ankles, those he knew were going to be the first things to go when he got into his thirties. Shaking his legs out he headed through the sectors, something was telling him he going to have to lead Sephiroth back in through here.. or at least make sure he didn't go walking into a mako pool, there was just something in his voice that didn't sit right with the Turk.

SOLDIER second class was a leadership rank which was why there was always one assigned to a mission with 3rd class. Yet it seemed like on this mission the 2nd class was the most rookie of the lot.. Walking through the forest he rubbed his temples, why did he have a feeling he was going to be doing alot of paperwork after this mission.

Moving through a slightly denser section of woods he stopped hearing footsteps behind him along with voices, so he had missed someone in this thicker forest, and by the sounds of it..would not be good for Sephiroth and his men to run into them. A sadistic smile crossed his face as he turned hand already going for the blades at his back.

It was time to paint this forest red...

Sephiroth flipped the phone shut promptly as the connection was dropped, once more tucking it away. He found himself rather glad of the chosen formation, not only were SOLDIERs marginally more likely to spot the hidden Mako pools, they were less vulnerable to poisoning. There would be no adjustment needed for this variable. Not yet, at least, he was quite certain he'd smell the Mako before any of them had the chance to step in it. It was a distinct scent, and one he knew far too well.

"We're clear," the Second Class spoke more for the sake of the infantry, than the Thirds who had potentially already heard the other side of the brief conversation.
