Bio: Voltz Grangeitz life was very simplistic, he grew up in the town of Kalm. Like his father, he started to work at the mines at an early age as an errand boy. By the time he was 10 he was deemed ready to work in the mines himself. Voltz ignored school and enjoyed working in the mines with his father. At the age of 15 he met the love of his life Alicia. She was the daughter of the shopkeeper close to the mines. She loved Voltz back. His father was proud of him, telling Voltz that he caught the most beautiful woman in town.

At the age of 17 his father died due to a collapse in the mines. Voltz was the first to enter the mines trying to dig his father out. He wanted his father to be alive. However a few hours later, by the time he found his father, the man was no longer breathing. Several miners had to drag Voltz out of the mines so that they could carry the man to the doctor. Voltz cried for the first time in his life. He felt so empty. His mother soon joined his father, like a love bird who dies when its mate is gone; she died in her sleep. It seemed that Voltz’s mother couldn’t live without his father.

After his parents death Voltz was welcomed in by Alicia’s family. He felt so empty; he started to question why his mother leaved him alone? Why did his father have to die so soon? Voltz would always stare at the sky, wondering how they are doing. Alicia entered his room and wrapped her arms around him. That was the last night Voltz cried for his parents.

At 22, Voltz was the one in charge for the miners. He kept them in check and checked that the area that they were mining was safe. He told the miners when it was safe to mine and when it wasn’t. When the demand for mythril went up Volt made it his job to keep the flow from the mines and the shop as cleanly as he could. Alicia moved to his house. In his spare time Alicia taught Voltz how to read and write, telling him that those were now needed more than ever in Gaia.

At the age of 23 Voltz and Alicia got married. And one year later Voltz had his one and only son, Zest. Voltz worked at the mines while Alicia and little Zest were in the shop. While Voltz felt bad that he couldn’t be with his son more often, he had to put food on the table.
When Voltz was 31 He was digging in the mines when he stumbled to a small piece of mythril. This piece was strangely shaped as a phoenix. He decided that he would give it to Zest, who just started to work in the mines, when he was ready in his eyes. Alicia looked after Zest in his well being, while Voltz taught him the meaning of strength. He taught Zest how to mine for mythril.

At the age of 36 Voltz gave Zest the pendant he found years ago. He was proud of his son, he started to work at the mines and he was keeping up with some of the older miners, at the age of 12. Voltz saw his son smile widely and thanked him for the pendant. Alicia made their favorite meal and Voltz couldn’t be happier with his family.

Zest ran away from home when Voltz was 39. Voltz was furious, how could Zest betray him like this? He left behind a note of apology and the pendant that was so dear to the both of them. Alicia tried to calm him down but Voltz was too angry to forget. When he told Alicia that Zest was dead to him, she slapped him. She told him that their son has made his own decision, wasn’t Voltz supposed to be happy that his son was starting to be independent from them? Voltz waited until Alicia left him alone to let out a few tears, for not noticing his son growing up.

There was an accident when Voltz was 42. There was a fire in one of the homes and Voltz was the first one to notice it. He took a blanket and soaked it in water. He rushed in and helped the woman who was trapped inside the fire. He wrapped the woman in the blanket and started to head out of the the door when some of the rubble fell on his back. Voltz pushed out of the fire with woman in his arms. As soon as the he was at a safe distance he placed the woman on the ground and collapsed from the pain.

When he woke up he saw his wife Alicia crying next to him. He noticed that he was wrapped around his body. When he tried to stand up he felt jolts of pain on his back. Alicia forced her husband to lie down. She told him that he suffered heavy injuries from the fire. That it would take months before he can walk or work again. Voltz looked at his wife all pulled her in for a kiss. He apologized to his wife for being selfish. It took months before he could walk properly again. He was treated as a hero in the town. His scars on his back and arms were visible.

Alicia started to get sick more often when Voltz was 46. Voltz took more time off from the mines to look after his wife. With small help that Zest often sent in the form of Gil, Voltz could afford to look after his wife. Alicia was always weak against illnesses, but this time it was the last time. On her deathbed Alicia made Voltz promise that when their son came home that he would welcome him with open arms. To promise that when she passed away that Voltz wouldn’t do something crazy and kill himself. Voltz promised her all of that and that he wouldn’t cry at her funeral. Alicia passed away when Voltz was 47. Voltz deiced to send a letter to his son Zest, telling him about his mother. He looked at the small phoenix pendant that always on Alicia’s dresser. He placed it in the envelope, hoping that his son came home soon.

One year later Zest came home. His son has finally grown up. He had on the uniform of a First Class SOLDIER. When Zest entered the door he fell on his knees and started to sob. Voltz could barely understand him. He heard that Zest was sorry for running away and for not being here for Alicia’s funeral. Voltz had enough of it and with his strength he had from working in the mines; he lifted Zest off the ground and punched him in the face. Voltz watched with some satisfaction how his son him the floor again. Voltz lifted him up again but this time he gave him a bear hug. He told that he was proud of his son and that Alicia was proud of him too.

Voltz gave him his trench coat that he wore when it was a special occasion. Zest eyes widened and told Voltz he couldn’t accept this. Voltz shoved the piece of clothing to his son’s chest. He told Zest that he should wear it as a piece of himself will always be with his son.

Now he just works in the mines, watching those who are less experienced. He always carries a Restore Materia just in case that someone gets hurt. When news that the production of mythril was increasing Voltz knew that with the war going on something bad will happen. He could feel it in his aging bones.

RP Sample: Voltz woke up from his bed. He looked to the side to see the bed empty. He missed his beloved. He promised her that he would keep an eye on their son. So he couldn’t do anything stupid and join her in the Lifestream. Once he was dressed he headed straight for the mines. With the demand of Mythril increasing he had to oversee that everything was going smoothly.

“I almost forgot.” Voltz looked at his naked wrist. He raced back upstairs and took that black ribbon his wife wore. She always wore two ribbons in her hair, Zest has the other ribbon. Once everything was set he left his home and headed toward the mines.

“Morning sir!” One of the younger miners greeted.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us!” Voltz talked loud, his voice was firm. “Let’s make the best of this good day, lunch is on me!”

The miners nodded their heads. Everyone took their equipment before heading into the mines. Voltz looked behind him at the direction of Midgar. For some reason he felt a chill down his spine, Voltz just hoped that it was just because he was going senile and not because his son was about to get into trouble.
