Appearance: If quiet strength were personified, you might find it in Angeal. At six foot four inches, the man is not the tallest First, but is certainly amongst the strongest, built solidly with toned muscle under a soft tan. Once dark eyes are now a softer slate blue because of his SOLDIER’s Mako glow, his black hair kept neat, slicked back to the nape of his neck, with two bangs hanging down on either side by long sideburns. He wears the traditional SOLDIER First uniform, all in black from his pauldrons and ribbed, sleeveless turtleneck tee, to his pants and zip-up boots. A thick belt marked with the SOLDIER symbol helps anchor a set of leather suspenders that crisscross on his back at a powerful magnet that holds his Buster Sword better than any sheath. On battle occasions, he can be seen with a standard-issue SOLDIER sword, as well as a Shinra Alpha bracer filled with Sense-Revive, Restore-All, and whatever remaining two materia seem to fit the mission best.

Personality: Angeal is a SOLDIER at heart, and it’s been said he is the ‘spiritual leader of SOLDIER’ – his sense of justice and honor and helping those in need appeals to many. A mix of kindness and tough love makes him an excellent mentor figure, and a subtle sense of humor appeals even to the younger students, though it’s his older comrades who appreciate it most. Growing up poor taught him to appreciate the little things in life, and instilled in him a frugal nature that has him watching every gil – a good chunk of his pay as a First Class going to keep his mother comfortable, the rest saved ‘just in case’ much to the amusement of his friends. His one indulgence is his garden, but even that has a purpose, providing many of the fruits, vegetables and herbs used in his famous home cooking. He doesn’t openly scorn frivolous things, but you won’t find him often indulging in them either.

Angeal would, if given the opportunity, protect the whole world from harm and is seen often as the peacekeeper amongst friends. He takes pride in his sense of honor and duty and his role as a SOLDIER. But, combined with his black-and-white view of the world, danger lurks. If his faith in the world, in himself, in his honor and his role in the world were ever shaken… he would likely fall into a deep depression, one he may never emerge from.

RP Sample: It was early morning, before dawn. Nonetheless, Angeal was up and ready for the day. These stolen hours of peace were cherished, especially with how hectic life had been lately. Life always seemed to be hectic anymore…

And to think, this time it wasn’t even the puppy’s fault! A little smile touched his lips at that as he sipped his coffee, thinking fondly on his student before his mind drifted to his other friends. Genesis…


~Flashback~
“Out of my way!” Fire, always his choice, burned hot in his hand – had Genesis intended to melt through his sword? – but no, it was too hot, too sudden. The sword snapped in half and a portion spun through the air, slicing deep into the Crimson Commander’s left shoulder, pain bringing him to kneel, though to his credit he never released his rapier.

“Genesis!” He remembered reaching for him, then, but Genesis had assured him that it was fine. ‘Just a scrape.’ He was, at least, well enough to quote a bit of his favorite epic to them as he left.


But it wasn’t fine. He’d seen Genesis the other day. He hadn’t healed at all, and with the accelerated healing that SOLDIER Firsts had… something was wrong. They had gone to Hollander and had tests done, but his body had been found before they could get the results.

It was an odd feeling. He was not exactly anti-Hollander, but he’d not been over-fond of the portly scientist either. Now he was dead, and it left him uneasy.

Perhaps because that left he and Genesis in Hojo’s tender care. Hojo, who had always called them ‘failures’ for whatever reason, and treated Sephiroth like a prized specimen. Yes, that was worth being uneasy over. But, if he could help Genesis… well, he’d get over it then.
