Nessa Carson - Fighter Empty
PostSubject: Nessa Carson - Fighter   Nessa Carson - Fighter EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 7:01 pm

Name: Nessa Carson

Age: 19 (February 5th)

Height: 5’3”

Weight: 122 lbs.

Gender: Female

Town of Origin: Corel

Appearance: Though practical, she’s still a little vain and takes care over her appearance. Her dark brown hair falls past her shoulders, unstyled though she keeps a length of textured black ribbon in her pocket at all times to pull it back. Her blue eyes, naturally light, make it hard to notice the faint glow acquired from her childhood explorations near the Corel Reactor. Her average build is toned from her training, and skin that was once a solid tan has lightened greatly without the sunny heat of Corel.

She sticks to the standard uniform for the most part, her only deviations being her much adored fingerless black gloves and a tendency to never wear her jacket or tie when on ‘desk duty’. Her uniform boots bear two-inch heels. When not in uniform, she can be found in non-restrictive clothing, typically jeans and a short-sleeved shirt, and barefoot, if she can get away with it.

Personality: A curious sort, her mind is never at rest, always considering whatever subject comes to mind, allowing her to draw the vaguest of connections. As long as she has something to occupy her mind, she’s content in silence. In fact, she actually enjoys paperwork, to a point, and is rather organized, as long as you don’t count her apartment. Though she’s typically quiet, preferring to observe rather than actively participate unless the subject matter is of personal interest to her.

Hands-on, she’s the type of person who would rather throw out the instruction manual and learn through attentive trial and error - if it ends explosively, all the more fun. She dislikes letting someone else do something when she could do it herself, rarely asking for help, even if she knows she needs it.

Bio: Born to Mary and Sorel Carson of Corel in 1981, her mother fell ill after her birth and died two years later, unable to receive the medical care she needed in the small mining town. Raised in part by her teenage aunt and in part by her miner father, she became used to running about on her own and staying out from underfoot at a young age. During that childhood, she befriended the orphaned girl who later became known as ‘Knife’, whose own parents had been killed due to Shinra’s landgrabs.Though repeatedly told not to go near the reactor being constructed, she did so anyway now and then, finding a thrill in slipping through the wire fencing and avoiding being seen.

In 1990, her father crushed his left leg in an accident in the mines. No longer able to work in the mine, he turned more of his attention to his daughter, and their somewhat neglected home. That same year, Knife left Corel, less than a year later, Nessa lost all contact with the older girl.

With coal as a declining resource, and not having the upper body strength to be recruited for work on the reactor, Nessa left Corel soon after she turned 14 in ‘95, getting a job waiting tables to earn the money for passage to Midgar. Before she left, her father gave her a Carbon Bangle set with Fire and Transform materia.

Not quite 15, [November, 1995] after only a semester in the Academy, she was startled to be recruited into the Department of Administrative Research. Though, she was even more baffled when she spotted Knife, whom she had feared dead, in their distinctive uniform. She later learned that the department’s interest in her had been piqued only after Knife had seen and mentioned her. Though she was pleased the older girl wasn’t actually dead, she wasn’t sure if she should be thanking her or cursing her by the time she got through the hellish months of training.

In late ‘96, she was assigned to shadow a startlingly bubbly Turk who prefered to use Nunchuku. At first, she wasn’t completely sure if it wasn’t some sort of odd ‘final test’, because surely no Turk could be that....cheerful. All the time.

Shortly after her seventeenth birthday [February, 1997] she was given her first official ‘solo’ assignment - she was to be Director Veld’s secretary until further notice. While it was a valid position, it was not one that had ever really been utilized by the Department. To say she was put out would be an understatement, as she was restricted from going on missions outside of Midgar itself. Or leaving Midgar itself. As either one could potentially interfere with the duties of her position. It didn’t take her long to realize part of why she’d been given the position was because of her hypermobility. She was not pleased.

In the time since, she’s become accustomed to the camaraderie amongst the Turks, though she has a tendency to avoid her former mentor as his personality unsettles her just a bit. She has also rekindled her childhood friendship with Knife, who introduced her to paintball as soon as she was a full-fledged Turk. She has also, however, taken up casual smoking, rolling her own and using a reusable plastic filter.

Limit Breaks:
Level 1
Uppercut - Punches a single target with double normal strength
Backfire - Weak physical attack on last opponent to attack, inflicts Slow or Stop
Level 2
Morpheus - Vocalizes a distinct tone that inflicts Sleep on anyone within range, including allies
Others to be added in future

Special Abilities:
Enhanced Hearing - Equable to that of a full-fledged 3rd Class SOLDIER.
Accent Mimicry - Can mimic an accent almost perfectly after hearing it spoken.
Hypermobility - Fingers and elbows can bend the wrong way. While it can be useful it can cause inflammation and pain. It also leaves her more susceptible to sprained wrists and dislocating her arm/elbow.

RP Sample:
Nessa was shedding her jacket the moment she neared her desk, laying it over the back of the chair and slipping her paintball pistol into a drawer within easy reach. Her right arm bent backwards a little as she removed the jacket, but she didn’t even seem to notice the unnatural angle.

Rather than sit immediately, she set her foot on the chair first to make sure it hadn’t been rigged to collapse again. Content that she wouldn’t end up on the floor, she settled into the chair properly and started turning things on. Which included snapping the cord on the desk phone back in place, she never allowed it to ring when she wasn’t at the desk, made everything easier.

She shot a frown at the door leading into Tseng’s office, he really hadn’t been the same since Sephiroth had disappeared. Though she supposed the Department as a whole wasn’t the same. The Director was certainly chipping at people more often than usual. She hadn’t been very close to the ‘part-Turk’ SOLDIER, but she’d seen him around often enough and it hadn’t taken her long to adopt the ‘family’ mentality the Department included the First in. Which was a little inevitable, as he was closer to her in age than most of the actual Turks were.
