| He was missing something, but concluded it wasn't important. It sounded like a real language, but if it was young enough that it's pronunciation was still known, it should've sounded more familiar than it was. He wasn't entirely sure it was a proper language, though it was structured like one. | |

| Sephiroth supposed Tseng hadn't had much chance to get any groceries in the past week - or the two before. He certainly didn't remember him getting any while he was here - and the only new edible editions he had noticed so far was the candy in his room and the restocked ice cream in the freezer. Neither of which actually required a trip to an actual grocery store.
Since they seemed to be taking a break of sorts, and the mention of food had him noting his own hunger, he got to his feet, intending to snatch a few pieces from his drawer. On his way back, he glanced at each open door he passed out of reflex, pausing as he saw something on the floor in the bathroom. Flushing slightly, he moved to put it away before it could catch Tseng's attention when the power returned. | |

| Normally he wouldn't open the fridge during an unknown power outage but he was bloody hungry and the fridge had all the good stuff. Holding the candle up so he wouldn't burn off part of his hair he started to root around searching for something he could eat cold. He had just moved a jug of milk out of the way when the lights suddenly flared on. Jumping back he covered his eyes blinking as everything was white for a second before returning to normal. "God that hurt.. well at least the power is back on." | |

| He had just straightened back up and started to turn to go out into the hall, when something made him glance towards the mirror. Just at the moment, the lights turned back on. Recoiling instinctively as the light burned into his eyes, Sephiroth raised a hand and closed his eyes a moment too late. After a few moments, he dropped his hand and slowly opened his eyes, only to feel a flicker of fear. Moving a little too quickly, he hissed as he clipped his shoulder on the door frame, resting his back against the wall for a moment to try to reorient himself. | |

| The pain from clipping his shoulder and the following pause against the wall had the effect of calming him down a little. Blinking a few more times in an unsuccessful attempt to restore his vision, he pushed off the wall at Tseng's call. Having no desire to hit anything again, he let his fingers trail against the wall as he headed back towards the kitchen to keep his path straight. Sephiroth really, really, really did not like not being able to see, but panicking would help nothing. At least it hadn't happened in the middle of a fight or somewhere environmentally dangerous, like stairs or a rooftop. | |

| Tilting his head slightly, a frown pulled at his lips, fingers absently pushing his long hair back behind his ear allowing the sound better access. Soft footfalls he easily recognized as Sephiroth were moving down the hall, while that was normal it was the sound accompanied with them that had him standing up from the fridge and moving out into the living room. He could hear fingers brushing constantly against the wall, and his foot steps were cautious as if judging where they were stepping. Moving into the hallway he watched the young teen for a moment before eyes flickered up to Sephiroth's. They were unmoving and the pupils had slammed shut, lovely...
Making sure for the first time that his movements could be heard he walked up to Sephiroth gently taking his hand. "Can you see anything?" | |

| He stilled at hearing Tseng come closer, turning his head to where he thought his brother was. Now that he wasn't concentrating on moving without bumping into anything, a touch of his previous fear appeared in his expression. His fingers curled around Tseng's hand maybe a little tighter than was really necessary. Hearing the question, Sephiroth tried to use it to pinpoint Tseng's face, but mistook the angle and ended up staring at a point over his brother's shoulder instead as he shook his head slightly. | |

| Dropping his hand from the wall, he turned his face against Tseng's chest, trying to picture his brother based on what he could feel. the thought of being like this for any longer than a few minutes was not a pleasant one. With his luck lately it would almost definitely be more than just a few minutes. Though describing it as being because his eyes were angry was an interesting way of putting it... | |

His room had dimmer lights and black out curtains.. the might be the best place but his room was a mess at the moment. Grinning slightly he kept one arm wrapped around Sephiroth's shoulders and ducked down scooping the boy up into his arms bridal style. "That works." | |

| Losing his last bit of contact with the area, Sephiroth reflexively curled slightly in Tseng's arms. He trusted Tseng not to purposefully knock him into anything, but still couldn't keep from immediately latching on. Why his brother felt it necessary to carry him rather guide him, he wasn't sure. Though he supposed it was likely quicker. | |

| "I don't need you tripping over the stuff on my bedroom floor." It really wasn't a lot but when you couldn't see, it just seemed to be Murphy's law that you found every little thing on the floor and tripped over it. Making sure not to knock Sephiroth's head or feet into anything on the way he set him down on the bed. "I know this is frightening right now.. but take this as a learning opportunity, with the loss of sight, our other senses are enhanced. Hearing is what will save you against an assassin, use this little bit of time of listen to the world around you with out your sight hindering it." | |

| His expression made quite clear what he thought of it being a 'learning opportunity'. Admittedly, it didn't help that Tseng's impromptu lessons included throwing knives at him without warning. Sephiroth did relax somewhat now that he had regained physical contact with the environment.

| Honestly he wouldn't put it past him. Though maybe only something like pillows at the moment.
He closed his eyes, the illusion it gave of not being able to see by choice rather than from blindness helped him calm a little. Which let him actually concentrate enough to pay attention to the more distant sounds. Those who hadn't been enhanced from birth he'd heard often suffered from confusion and headaches until they learned how to 'tune out' their surroundings. According to what he knew, though... he'd possibly been born enhanced, albeit not to his current level. He didn't so much 'tune out' sounds as didn't consciously register them. Often, he'd pick up a sound and unconsciously react to it even though he hadn't consciously registered it. In a way his hearing was always 'on', but unconsciously turned down.
It had unnerved some of the assistants how even though his room was soundproofed - he always noticed them before the door was opened. Though he only knew that because one had actually come out and said it.
It was easy now to pinpoint where Tseng and Anubis were despite not being able to touch them. The sounds from the rest of the complex were muffled, much like some areas of the Tower, and while he couldn't make out any words, he could hear a door above them, and the sound of the elevator moving. | |

| Watching the young teen for a moment, as silently as possible he grabbed his assassin uniform and slipped into the bathroom to change. He would keep to his word about not throwing anything at him, but this just gave him the perfect opportunity for Sephiroth to learn what to listen for in Wutai and during the next few months of training coming up.
Having made sure that the door wasn't closed when he changed he slipped from the bathroom on completely silent feet and moved around the room, watching the boys head movement to see if he picked up and followed him. | |

| When Tseng went quiet, Sephiroth barely registered it, trying to distract himself by making out a conversation somewhere outside. At least one of the participants was moderately drunk. The silence though, had him turning his attention back to the room. No... not silence, just very close to. If he actually paid attention he could make out the soft, slow breathing, and that quiet whisper... | |

| A ghost of a smile lit his face seeing the boy go still and turn his attention once more to the room. 'good...' Making sure to avoid the junk on the floor he slipped around the room and silently leapt up onto the foot board of the bed, not once making a sound or even making the bed shake. That had taken a very long time to master and he still occasionally would make the bed shake a little, he got lucky this time. He crouched down simply watching Sephiroth. | |

| The fingers of his left hand twitched, and he lifted his head slightly. It was difficult enough to pinpoint him when he was moving... the near-silent whisper of silk was actually much louder than his breathing. Had he been un-enhanced he was fairly sure it would've been impossible to pick up his breathing until he was close enough to feel it. | |

| Sitting there, simple watching Sephiroth he altered his breathing changing it to match his. While each Assassin had a skill set, all of them were trained in stealth, stealth though just happened to be his skill set. Call it a survival instinct around his house, the more quiet he was the less likely his father was going to find his newest hiding spot and beat him.

Sephiroth slowly counted to ten, thinking maybe Tseng was holding his breath, knowing you couldn't hold it very long without starting again louder. When there was no change to the silence, he held his own breath for two extra seconds, just listening. | |

| He heard Sephiroth breathing halt, showing he was holding it and smiled, halting his own completely. Very good the boy was thinking, that little bit of smarts would save his life. This was something that was not taught in SOLDIER, and was something he even had to teach the Turks during his own training when he had completely taken Veld by surprise.
