By the time Sephiroth had finished eating, he had also finished his drink and was feeling rather . . . . actually, rather like the first time he'd gotten his hands on candy. It was difficult to focus on a single subject, mind jumping between several, and he really did not want to sit still. For someone who always tried to be in control of himself, it wasn't a feeling he liked much. He tried to ignore the fact his hand was shaking as he set both plate and can on the ground, fingers tracing the grip of the sword in his lap. "What the hell was in that?"

Ducking his head Tseng tried hard not to laugh, but it was a losing battle. "More like what wasn't in that. That's an energy drink, I didn't realize you probably never had one until you were already drinking it, Turks live off that stuff. It's got caffeine, energy things, sugar, and a bunch of stuff in it." He turned his own can over having never looked at it himself, just simply went off what Reno told him. Seeing exactly how much of what was in there, he lost the battle with not laughing. "Well.. that explains why Reno is so hyper in the morning...." God damn there was alot of energy stuff in there.

Caffeine . . .? Wasn't that on . . . Sephiroth made a face at the older teen that was somewhere between annoyed and amused. "I could be allergic to caffeine, for all you know. It was on the list of ingredients Hojo had me memorize when I became a cadet." Was it just him, or was he talking faster than usual?

Tseng snorted highly amused by this, "last I checked the SOLDIER level of mako took care of that little problem, so no I highly doubt you would be allergic to anything let alone caffeine." Shaking his head he looked back up at him, "all caffeine does is make you hyper, Hojo probably had you memorize it because he didn't want you having it, because people are harder to control when they are hyped up on sugar or caffeine. Don't worry you'll be fine, you'll just have a $#$ ton of energy that you will burn off and probably just fall asleep.. and you'll build up an immunity so you don't feel jittery anymore." Oh this was way to fun...

Sephiroth glowered, and spent a while trying to deal with his 'high' in a more passive manner. It could be argued that his use of fire materia wasn't very passive. Not when he was tossing a sustained Fire spell back and forth between his hands. The part of his mind that said it was a very stupid way to practice his magic had been stifled very quickly.

Oh this was really amusing, Tseng couldn't help but keep the smile on his face. Sephiroth was so damn funny when he was trying not to be hyper, but he could see it in all his movements. Yawning he had just pulled his night shirt one when he heard a snapping of a twig in the forest.

Instantly he was up bow drawn and fired before he was even full standing up. There was a sound Thunk! of a body hitting the ground followed by cursing. "Where the #%!@ did that come from! #%!@ they know we're here." Color draining from his face slightly, Tseng raced over grabbing the single blade he was using now and looked back to Sephiroth. "Get your weapons now." How the hell they found them he would never know, but already he could hear there was a lot more of them than before, this was going to be a battle...

Sephiroth immediately ceased 'playing', spell setting in his right hand as he took up Tseng's sword in his left. The spell doubled in size as he stood, and he threw it the moment he saw another movement to confirm his target. He considered for a moment returning the dark blade to the Turk, but the lack of any movement to claim it had him shifting from a casual grasp to a proper grip.

Shifting his stance, he took a deep breath his whole air changing from the laughing goofball of before, to something much darker and deadlier. His movements became more fluid as he notched another arrow, not even the drawing of the string made a noise as he raised the bow, eyes and ears trained on the forest.

The people inside had stopped moving, with two attacks in seconds they knew they had been caught, and knew they were waiting for them. They didn't have to move though, their breathing was enough to give them away. Tseng let the arrow fly and already had another notched and drawn back before the string ceased vibrating. He fired off three more in quick succession, four more bodies falling to the ground.

"What the #%!@! who the hell do they have out there?!" The voice was whispered but Tseng could hear them as clear as day. Yesterday they had gotten lucky and he had been drugged up, today he was completely clear headed...They would not be alive long enough to learn from that mistake.

"Someone sounds unhappy," Sephiroth murmured, letting another stronger spell form at his fingertips, and aiming at the source of the voice. Between instinct and the caffeine, he wanted to just run out to them and get the fight with over quicker. Tactics, however, and the sick feeling of nervousness at killing, dictated it was better to keep his distance for now. Especially with it getting darker and Tseng relying on sound over sight with his bow.

"Mm can't imagine why..." Tseng said softly, his voice had even dropped in pitch and become monotone. Leviathan his ribs were killing him, but he was ignoring it in favor of staying alive. Hearing a rustling in the forest to his left he fired hearing the satisfying sound of his arrow cleaving bone; reaching back his fingers had just grasped his next arrow when he felt a sharp sting in his leg. Leaping back Tseng reached down gripping onto a familiar shaped dart and raised it cursing. "They have tranqs..." $#$ they came prepared, he vaguely heard the soft pop of another one and saw it hit Sephiroth in the shoulder.

Shaking his head he could feel the effects starting, his vision was going fuzzy as was his head...but it was nothing he hadn't fought through before. To prove it to them he notched the next arrow and relying completely on the sound of their breathing fired off two more in quick succession killing both targets instantly.

I hate tranquilizers. Sephiroth flinched at the needle punching through skin, though he was pleased to note they weren't as strong as the ones Hojo kept on hand. The effect was notably weaker, still there, but ignorable for the moment. He shot another Fira in the direction it had come from, wishing he'd trained enough for a Firaga. The next one he cast took longer than it should've to ready.

Screw this! Snapping the bow closed he slung it onto his back the string catching on the quiver. "Keep on my heels like the hounds of hell are after us." Knowing Sephiroth would Tseng took off into the woods, he was no where as fast as the SOLDIER if he pushed himself and the drugs in his system were slowing him down some.

Leaping over one of the bodies with an arrow through his throat he ripped the arrow out and shoved it back into the quiver, and whirled around driving his blade deep into the chest of the man that had come out from behind of the tree. Kicking him back he ripped the blade out ignoring the blood that came with it staining his clothes.

Keeping pace, Sephiroth made a point to not take more than a passing glance at the bodies on the ground. He knew they were there, but as long as he concentrated on the moving targets instead of the fallen . . . though it was hard not to look at Tseng's newest kill. A sword to the chest was a far bloodier injury than an arrow to the head.

He was on high alert the mako rising in his blood causing his eyes to glow brilliant blue with an almost green hue to them. It had been far to long since he had been in a fight for his life, most of the work in the Turks had been desk work. Taking the head of a man stupid enough to try and jump out from behind a bush, he flicked the blade sharply, the blood coating it flying off and onto the ground as if it had never been on the pristine steel.

The men were restless, they wanted to fight but word was already reaching them of him, it made them wary, keeping deeper in the trees. It was getting darker and the drugs while not enough to knock him out were affect his vision greatly making it hard to see, forcing him to rely completely on hearing and feel. Reaching back he gripped Sephiroth's free hand and made him grab the back of his shirt. "I'm walking blind..I don't want to take you out on accident...I haven't had enough time to memorize your breathing pattern." His voice was low enough only a enhanced should hear him.

Fisting the fabric, Sephiroth murmured a quiet acknowledgement. It was a bit of a trick, and not something he usually attempted, but he managed to tap into his second materia successfully. Ice was much less flashy than Fire, and he only had the initial spell, but it also had the advantage of being cast directly onto the target, rather than being launched. Which would make it just a little harder for them to pinpoint their location. Of course, he had to put just as much, if not more, of his attention into keeping pace and position with Tseng as casting.

Hearing something behind them Tseng twisted ignoring the snap as a healing rib fractured again from the movement, grabbed Sephiroth and shoved him down enough that his blade passed over him slashing the throat of someone that had tried to sneak up from behind. Knowing the boy was not looking at the bodies Tseng kept a strong but gentle hold on Sephiroth's head keeping it facing forward so he did not see the man die behind him...though you could hear the gurgling sounds of the death rattle.. that was a sound could make even him feel ill.

Twisting back around he didn't have time to move, another sharp pain this time in his neck. Reaching up he ripped the dart from his neck, but it was too late.. who ever had done this dose..wanted to make sure he was out. Stumbling he fell to his knees, his vision swimming and the black of unconsciousness closing in on him fast. "Seph...run...get the hell out of here...find...veld.." He lost the battle with the tranq and went under, body falling to the ground unconscious.

Run? Sephiroth considered the option for all of a moment. No, running wasn't gonna happen, not this time. He could still think, still fight, still had magic left. He had Mako, he was 'superior' as Hojo always liked to tell him. Maybe he couldn't stomach death, yet, but he certainly wasn't just going to let them take Tseng.

A Fira hit the closest man right in the face, knocking him back into another. A dart hit his arm, and the shooter was rewarded with an Ice as he ducked behind a tree to reload. He heard someone come up on the side, not moving for him, but for Tseng. Turning to face him, bringing up the sword in his hand - a third dart. These last two were stronger than the first . . . His fingers couldn't keep a hold of it anymore. . .

I hate tranquilizers.

He didn't know how long he was unconscious, what he did know is he felt like he had a hangover from hell. His head and body was killing him and his mouth felt like it was stuffed full of cotton. Trying to work his mouth he found that there was cotton in his mouth... He had been gagged, preventing him from speaking. Slowly he cracked his eyes open, not enough to give him away of being awake yet, but enough to allow him to survey where they were.

Stone walls surrounded them, their tone almost a greenish hue... they weren't the Mithril mines, but they were part of the same mountain range, probably a old section long since abandoned. There were small fires lit which men could be seen sitting or sleeping, weapons could be seen laying around them, close enough to be grabbed at a moments notice. Keeping his eyes narrowed he tried to assess his own situation, twisting his hands he found them bound tightly, his upper arms by the constriction of his chest told him they had been bound as well...most likely to prevent him from repeating his first escape. Testing his feet he found them just as equally bound along with a tight rope binding his thighs together, and if by the roughness of the ground against most of his skin save just around his upper thighs and hips..he was stripped down to his boxers..lovely... perverts.

Hearing soft breathing behind him he kept his eyes closed but reached out as best he could bound as he was, fingers brushing up against what he hopped was Sephiroth's bound arm.

Sephiroth twitched at the touch, Mako having already burnt through all but the last vestiges of the drugs. It hadn't dealt with all the side-effects though, whatever they'd shot him with had left his lungs burning. He murmured softly, "I hate tranquilizers."

Now that he was awake, he noted not only the absence of his weapons and bracer - but the tight bindings on arms and legs. He tensed, breath quickening, the same feeling as that morning rising in his chest like iron claws. Not even the possibility of running this time.

Hearing the quickening of the breath behind him and feeling the muscles under his fingers tensing, he realized the boy was going into a panic attack. No long caring if it was obvious they were awake, he shifted backwards, ignoring the burning in his chest with the movement and pressed his back up against Sephiroth, his hand managing to find his bound hands and wrapped around them as best he could trying to offer up what little comfort his restricted body could offer.

He forced himself to hold his breath, letting it out slowly. In. Out. Breath. Calm. Maybe not completely calm . . . he was fairly certain he was shaking a bit, but now he had a semblance of control. A flimsy one, but one all the same.

"Sorry." He wasn't quite sure whether he was apologizing for just now, or for not running. A bit of both, really.

His fingers tightened around Sephiroth's saying softly that it was alright since he could not himself. Honestly why did they have to gag him? It wasn't like he had this magical voice and enchanted people to do his bidding...okay maybe that wasn't true, he was damn good at sweet talking the opposite sex even though he had absolutely no interest in them what so ever. Keeping a hold of his hand he let his other fingers run over his hand in a comforting way.

"So you both finally decided to return to the land of the living, I must say...It took a lot to bring you both down." Tseng lifted his eyes and growled, the voice was just as slimy as the man standing above him. "And here I believed you would be easy to capture, you... Little Wutain.. you killed an awful lot of my men.." The man lashed out kicked Tseng in the gut hard, enough to shoved him against Sephiroth and leave him winded with pain racing through his body. "If you weren't so valuable being a Turk you would have been killed back in that forest." The man, what had to be the leader this time, moved around so that he could look at Sephiroth. "And Shinra's newest golden SOLDIER...I must say.... I expected a great deal more from you, yet a Turk did more damage than you did.. such a pity.."

Sephiroth's eyes narrowed at the man, fingers curling around Tseng's. Stifled fear was replaced with a new emotion at the rough treatment when the Turk was already injured. Anger, anger he could work with. Anger was something he'd learned to control. "You'd rather have less men? Do they know you intended for more of them to die?"

"So the little one can talk...and such a snarky little thing... Getting information from you should be interesting." The man moved back around that slimy oily voice filled with glee. "I would have lost less men today, had this one..." another brutal kick, this time aimed for his chest slammed into Tseng. You could hear the cracking of the broken ribs being broken even more, though he didn't utter a sound, the only way to tell he was in severe pain was the almost death like grip he had on Sephiroth's fingers the minute the blow landed, and the ragged breathing as it was now very painful to breath. "Been as easy to capture as he was the other night... We knew from how he got himself free that last time he was skilled...though must say we underestimated him, Veld is picking his men well this time... It won't matter though." The man leaned down grabbing a fist full of dark hair and yanked back hard forcing Tseng to look up at him. "All spirits can be broken..." He released him and stood up motioning towards one of his men. "Grab him.. we'll deal with the Turk first.."

Perhaps using a Limit Break in the middle of a cave, surrounded by enemies, and bound, was the best of ideas. Honestly, Sephiroth was too angry to care, and was more than ready to try his newest Limit on a living target. He was used to using a hand to focus it, however, something he didn't really have free . . . Sephiroth wasn't about to let that stop him - it wasn't as if the Limit required a physical action. Blue light flared up, and shot out, striking the man holding Tseng hard.
