How We Met - Late June, 1992 - Private RP

It was a little easier to think without their captors so close to him, the fear not quite so strong now that he wasn't the center of attention. He needed to get free, but these ropes weren't some flimsy things he could simply snap. He needed something to cut them with . . . but he didn't have his sword. Nothing to cut it with . . . but maybe, if he drew them away, Tseng could get free?

Drawing his feet up under him slowly, he waited until he was completely sure Tseng was the only one looking at him - and bolted into the grass.

Seeing the little SOLDIER bolt, Tseng slumped down. Good maybe he would run and keep running, curling up slightly he kicked at the shins of a man that was starting to turn away. "Hey #%!@ heads i'm down here, didn't your mommy ever tell you it was impolite to turn your back on your captive." He could be a real foul mouth sarcastic ass hole when he wanted.

"You think your funny huh... well lets see what it takes to make you squeal huh little Turk. I wonder.. if he would squeal if we broke all his fingers." the main man knelt down picking up Tseng's bound hands looking them over. "Well.. look at this, they are calloused.. looks like from sword use, I believe Turks are all guns, what were you trying to become SOLDIER little one." Tseng remained stubbornly silent, his father had dished out worse punishments then this. Hell his master hit him harder than these morons were.

He prayed silently to Leviathan that the little SOLDIER was smart enough to run back to the chocobo farm.

He wasn't sure quite how far he'd run before he tripped, and just lay there for a moment. He couldn't hear anyone following, in fact, from what he could tell, they might've not even noticed he'd run. Even with his muddled mind he thought they were rather stupid. What kind of captors left their prisoner's unfettered and unwatched? Rolling onto his back, he sat up and looked back at what he'd tripped on - a rock.

How the hell had he missed a rock that big, even in the dark?

"I can't believe you let the other one get away!" The leader was furious as he paced back in forth in front of the little tent that had been put up by the Shinra dogs. "And you can't even find him! How the hell can you miss him he's got #%!@ silver hair for crying out loud! Its not like he blends in with his surroundings." He angrily kicked at a fold up chair, "what about the other one?"

One of the underlings shook his head. "He's not talking sir.. no matter what we do to him, we know he's the one that let Sephiroth get away, all that $#$ talkin now he's clammed up tighter than a virgins..." The leader punched the subbordnate he did not need to hear his perverted fantasy's at the moment.

"Go out and find him... I'll continue to deal with this one.."

Tseng was laying in the corner of the tent, one eye swollen shut, the other bright blue with mako glaring up at them in pure hatred but he remained tight lipped, not even confirming the name on his ID card. He knew he was most likely going to die, as long as Sephiroth made it to safety that was all that mattered.

The rock had proven more of a help than it had been a hindrance, it'd taken some effort, and scraped skin - but he'd gotten the damn ropes off. Unrestricted, he felt a great deal calmer, even if his head had him worried. His mind was as much a strength as his enhanced body was - he didn't like it being limited. Now that he was free though . . . he felt angry.

Sephiroth had been looking forward to spending time out from under his father's eye, while it was considered a mission, it was still a week of freedom. No training, no tests, no lessons . . . he didn't even mind that he'd been assigned a 'babysitter' in the form of a Turk. He could've ended up with a worse companion. They hadn't even been here a day yet and they'd been attacked.

He'd show them what it meant to properly face a SOLDIER. A Third in Rank he might be, but in terms of enhancement, he was far more.

That 'Someone is about to do something stupid' vibe he normally got when Reno was about to do something started to go off. Why did he have a feeling Sephiroth wasn't going to get help as he should but was coming back... unarmed....

After his captures found out he was a Turk they had bound his feet and thighs together along with a rope around his chest and arms. They trusted him not to weasel out and kill them about as far as they could drop kick the shinra building. They also made sure he was frisked, though he swore one of them took a little extra liberty on his backside and pulled all possible weapons away from him.

Knowing this was going to hurt like hell, Tseng twisted gritting his teeth as he popped his shoulder out of joint effectively loosening the ropes enough that he started to wiggle out. One thing about these anti Shinra, they weren't the brightest bulb in the pack... they believed they were safe with him tied up, beaten and weapons removed.

Well... He wasn't known as the youngest Imperial Assassin for nothing. but they didn't need to know that.

Sephiroth took as much time as he dared in returning to the camp, and found himself rather glad the grass grew as high as it did. It offered much more cover than he'd otherwise receive. As much nightlight as they had, his pale hair would've been a beacon to anyone looking. He stilled as he heard someone start to near his current position, crouching lower, not wanting to be seen just yet.

The man moved past Sephiroth, his foot steps loud and clumsy showing someone with no military training.

From a little distance away there was a soft 'thunk' sound and a second later the sound of something striking bone and the man fell at Sephiroth's feet in a boneless heap, an arrow sticking from between dead eyes still wide open in shock.

Sephiroth hadn't even had to move, his position leaving him with a perfect angle of the man's face. The moonlight made it seem as if he'd already been dead for hours, but for the trickle of blood down his face . . . he'd seen dead monsters, been the cause of such deaths . . . he'd fought and killed men in simulations. Knew where to strike with body or blade to cripple or kill. Simulations were not at all capable of reflecting this.

Smiling in satisfaction at a clean kill Tseng whipped around driving one of his full tangs into the gut of another captor, watching him fall lifeless to the ground at his feet. Taking a deep breath to steady himself as the world spun around him, he looked over his handy work. Three of the four were dead, one gutted, one shot through the head, the other missing his head, now he just had to find that coward of a leader. Naturally the minute Tseng had decapitated the one man the ass hole had fled leaving his men to deal with the Turk.

Not able to hear him anywhere near by he shoved the blades into his belt. "Sephiroth, I know you are out there..."

Sephiroth could hear Tseng, but didn't really register the words. He wanted to stand, to answer, to move away but he was having difficulty pulling his eyes away. He'd never actually seen a de- a cadaver before. Dead monsters, yes, but a human . . .

When Sephiroth didn't respond, he started to grow worried, yes the boy was ungodly quiet but when he had called him name the boy normally responded promptly. Ignoring the pain in his hip from a particularly violent kick to it, he kept the bow in his hand and moved down towards where he could hear breathing he had already associated with the young boy.

Moving through the tall grass he found the boy, and one of the captors, one of his arrows still lodged between the mans still open eyes. Seeing the look on the young boys face he cursed silently. Setting the bow down he knelt down beside Sephiroth, setting a hand on his back gently, "Seph..." It was obvious, the boy had never seen a real dead body before, it was a shock to the system, even more so when you were the one who did it. "Seph, look at me."

Sephiroth jerked back at the touch, falling out of his crouch and onto the ground in the process. The dirt digging into his scratched hands helping to draw his attention away from the body. Line-of-sight broken, he turned startled eyes up to Tseng. When had he gotten that close?

"Hey, it's alright.." Ignoring his own injuries, Tseng reached out gently taking Sephiroth hands into his own looking at the wounds. " these will heal fast, but we need to get them cleaned otherwise even you could get an infection." Still keeping a gentle hold on Sephiroth's hands he pulled him to his feet as he stood as well.

"Once we get your wounds treated we need to move to another location, the leader got away no doubt to get reinforcements, if I remember the maps correctly there is another bit of high ground a few miles to our north." He started to pull Sephiroth through the grass, his gate off as he limped heavily favoring his left leg.

Sephiroth was startled by the level of concern he was being shown. An infection from dirty scratches? His father would've likely just left it and insisted on observing the symptoms of the infection. Letting himself be led, he kept his eyes on Tseng's back, keeping pace and trying not to think.

By the time he gimped them both back into camp, the bodies of the two had been returned to the life stream so they were no longer there, but the one thing the life stream did not remove was human blood. Ignoring it for the moment he made Sephiroth sit down in the tent and went about digging through the remains of his pack pulling out the first aid kid.

"I would say this is going to sting, but mako stings a millions times worse than this." taking his hands once more he gently cleaned them off, making sure to get the dirt from them, knowing his skin would heal quickly on its own. Finished he set a hand on Sephiroth's head pulling the hair back slightly seeing the wound was already healed. "What's your name, what day is it today and what's 4 + 2" He figured Sephiroth had a concussion, with a blow like that he would be shocked if the kid didn't have on, but he needed to know the extent of it.

He blinked at the questions, confused for a moment, "Sephiroth." He paused, hesitating on the next question, how long . . .? Was it still the same day? "Tuesday . . . ?" What was the last question again? Four plus two. "Six."

"Slow.. means it's not simply a mild concussion.. but you know the basics so no memory loss. So it's nothing life threatening.." He softly petted down the silver hair much as his mother did with him when he was hurt. He really wished she was here right now, take his mind off his own injuries.

Stepping back he looked at the camp, they needed to move and fast, but... Sephiroth wasn't in any condition to pack up...well neither was he in all honesty but he had been trained his whole like to fight through pain. He was feeling really sick to his stomach though, he knew he wouldn't hold onto his dinner for long at this rate but he needed to stay strong. "Just stay there, I'll get everything packed and we'll head back to the farm for right now, at least until morning and I'm sure your injury isn't going to get worse. We can call Shinra from there since they destroyed my phone..."

He made sure Sephiroth was out of the tent before he started to tear it down. He had just finished packing it away when he felt his stomach roll, groaning he hobbled over into a section of tall grass. Fire was burning through his body with every movement and protest of his stomach and bruised body.

Sephiroth had heard about concussions before, but never had one - until now. It was simpler, though, to simply do as told - and close his eyes and breath in an attempt to ease the headache that accompanied it. It worked, somewhat, in that the headache didn't become worse.

At the sound of retching, he glanced about and found his bag where he'd left it, lying open with an MRE half-falling out. Snatching at it and shoving the package back inside, he dug around until he found one of the packets of candy he'd brought. This one containing hard candy drops. Maybe they'd work as well for Tseng as they usually did for him?

Shivering both cold and hot he wiped the blood from his lips, most of what he had brought up had been the blood he had been forced to swallow when he had bitten into his cheek, some of it was probably from something internal. 'Great... just great, #%!@ weak Akera...' on shaking arms he managed to push himself up onto his knees. The hair band had been ripped from his hair a long time ago allowing it to fall free around his face effectively hiding him from the world around.

Tseng bit back the tears that were building in his eyes as the pain was only growing with each breath he took. He needed to fight through this! He was not going to fail his first solo mission! He couldn't fail Veld...he couldn't fail Sephiroth...

" . . . Tseng?" Sephiroth crouched down at his side, nose wrinkling at the scent of blood mixed with bile. He'd never liked those sorts of smells, they ranked up there with the antiseptic used in the labs. "How . . . injured are you?"

Tseng shook his head, throwing up every wall he had ever built up over his life. "I'm injured... but nothing I have not been through before. My father used to beat me worse for less." He shifted his weight off his left arm having been the one he intentionally dislocated, while he had reset it he could feel the flesh around it already bruising, had been a very long time since he had dislocated it by force.

"We need to move... before they come back." He managed to get himself upright on his knees but swayed, the world around him spinning wildly. Slamming his eyes shut he swallowed his stomach down willing what was left to stay where it was supposed to. Taking several deep breaths he pushed himself onto his feet almost instantly collapsing back down. Biting back a cry of pain and frustration he lowered his head biting his lower lip, he was failing and that was unacceptable.

Sephiroth watched as the Turk got to his feet and fell, why was he pushing himself so much? He didn't understand it, they were both hurt - why shouldn't he take some of the load? Tseng seemed to be doing everything, even before this mess.

"Not your father this time," Sephiroth murmured, taking hold of Tseng's right arm and pulling it over his own shoulders, helping the taller teen up. "My head might be damaged, but the rest of my body still works. This is my mission, I should be doing the work."

Tseng grudgingly allowed himself to be helped up, though tried not to put his weight on the younger teen. "Brain injuries are more dangerous... You need to rest so you don't make it worse." He staggered slightly over a few loose rocks but managed to keep his balance thanks to Sephiroth's hold on him. "I promised Veld I would watch over you... I swore I would keep you safe, on my honor as an imperial......." his words fell silent as his world spun again.

"I can't rest yet." Sephiroth started to shake his head, only to still as his body protested with a wince. He eased Tseng back down near the packs, crouching for a moment as he considered his next words. "I'll take it slow, you need a break more than me right now - you can protect me again later." Canting his head to the side, he mused aloud quietly, "It's my fault anyway, I knew you were asleep, I shouldn't have let myself get distracted until I was sure nothing was around. I should've heard them coming."
