Sword of Legends - August 1992 - Private RP

Tseng thought it over, tilting his head slightly as he looked over the pale skin. “Well we can take the precaution and slather you up with sun block, or you can chance it and see if you do get burned or not.” He wasn’t taking the chance, he would be a lobster by the middle of the day if he didn’t. Grabbing his own swim trunks he quickly changed not caring that Sephiroth was in the room and sat down pulling out the sun screen getting every inch of his body that he could reach.

"Yeah," Sephiroth finished putting his other boot back on and straightened back up. If he burned... then he burned - and would avoid doing so again if it was bad enough. And despite how much he'd eaten last night, and how early it still was... he was hungry.

Grabbing a pair of sandals he reached out pulling Sephiroth to him and headed down.

Now that it was starting to become daylight, the older generation was milling about down in the giant breakfast room of the hotel. In one corner of the giant room Veld had commandeered several tables pulling it away from the general population. “About time you two showed up, afraid you had fallen back asleep yo.”

“Shut up Reno..” Tseng smacked him as he walked by and took the empty seat right next to him yawning. “Just the old crowd so far?” Knife nodded looking around, “seen a couple of the younger generation starting to wake up but most of the beach bums won’t be out for another hour or so... at least according to MA.”

“Thank Leviathan, going to be bad enough when they are out on the beach... lets see how many times I get called some form of derogatory name today.”

Taking a seat himself, his back didn't even come close to touching the back of the chair, too used to the benches of the Mess. Sephiroth's expression darkened at Tseng's words, remembering the boys at the arcade that first day. He would have to watch his temper today... and his words.

Grabbing a pair of sandals he reached out pulling Sephiroth to him and headed down.

Sephiroth laughed softly, short of grinning at the idea. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be a silhouette of a panther above the words. Maybe a sleeping one or better yet an obviously aggressive pose...

Tseng continued to beat his head into the table, at this rate there was a chance he would be partially in charge of this group. “Oh Leviathan save me now.. I’m going to be grayer than him by the time I’m twenty three.” He pointed to Sephiroth and continued beating his head into the table. “Then you two would really look like brothers.”

Amusement faded into a small pout at his hair being referred to as grey, and he tugged gently on a lock of it. It wasn't premature greying.... it was his natural hair color. Admittedly he wasn't sure if he'd had it from birth or if it had been a side-effect of something Hojo had treated him with.

“Seph...” Veld chuckled shaking his head. “That is no reason to pout, if you are born grey it’s natural.. it’s not natural from someone like him to have your color hair so young when it is that dark. Though I do remember a few grey hairs on Vincent’s head. I think he about threw me through the wall when I pointed that out to him.” Phil laughed pushing himself up to get more coffee, “that was a vain boy, if I ever saw one. One single stress grey and he was going off the wall and looking for the hair dye.”

Sephiroth's attention was fully sidetracked at the first mention of his father's name, listening carefully to what the two eldest Turks had to say about him. His father was vain about his appearance? Or at least about his hair...

“He always had to have it combed the same way... you mess it up he went ape $#!^ on you.” Phil nodded as he walked back, coffee in hand. The other Turks were all eating and listening just like Sephiroth was. “Never let it grow too long, always parted in the same spot.. though I heard he let it grow out a little bit when Sephiroth’s mother got a hold of him, she liked long hair I guess...” Veld shrugged sipping on his own coffee. “You know my feelings, but out of respect for Sephiroth... I shall keep them to myself.”

Tseng watched him walk over to the food and turned back to Veld. It was easy to tell, just by his body language why he was holding his tongue. There was something about Sephiroth’s unknown mother that he hated. Every file that he had been able to unlock so far on Sephiroth, the name Jenova was the only thing they got for a mothers name... but there wasn’t even a birth certificate that they had been able to find. He had tried doing a Shinra search on Jenova to see if she was an employee in the science department, but everything he got was locked tighter than Sephiroth’s ever were. He might have to ask Veld what he knew at some point, though if it was as bad as it was starting to look... he didn’t think he would ever tell Sephiroth. He seemed to have this picture painted in his mind on what his mother was, he wasn’t about to destroy that if she turned out to be a monster.

There was only so much to choose from for food, and in a bid to draw less attention than he likely already was, he started with an amount that was more within the 'normal' for his age. He could always get up and refill his plate with more. He also remembered to make sure he got something to drink as well, juice rather than water, before returning to his seat.

Tseng after deciding he would enquire later had followed Sephiroth over to the food. You would think there would be a better selection in a hotel, cause so far there really wasn’t that much to choose from. “Yooo! Dude! sweet tattoo man.” He about put a new skylight in the dining room when some moron slapped him on the back. Rounding on the idiot he groaned silently ‘great...the beach bums are awake’ and boy did this kid fit that to a T. Dark tan skin, shaggy bleach blond hair, boarding shorts and one of those fanged necklaces that seemed to be all the rage around him. “How bad did that hurt man.” “About as bad as me decking you in the face if you touch me again...dude.”

Sephiroth had just set his food and drink down when the word 'tattoo' had his attention turned back to the buffet. His eyes narrowed warily at the blond local, though he seemed rather jovial at the moment. He knew Tseng was perfectly capable of defending himself from an untrained surfer if said surfer got angry at him... but that didn't stop him from feeling protective of his cousin/brother.

“Whoa dude, no need to flip, just chill man.” A muscle in Tseng’s jaw began to twitch, if there was one thing he hated it was ignorant douche bags like this. “Sorry dude, but in the real world where people are smoking pot all day.. touching someone without permission, normally gets them decked.” Pulling his bagel from the toaster, he wanted to groan seeing the idiot was getting food right beside him. “You need to loosen up, chill, take up some waves.” Reno seeing the kid was about to meet the business end of a cream cheese covered butter knife, stood up and moved over draping his arm around Tseng’s waist. “Yo dumb ass, get the picture... you’re about to get decked and trust me, he’s got enough mako in him to punt your ass back to the first grade. So If you haven’t managed to kill off what little brain cells you had to begin with, with all that bleach... I would take the hint and go the #%!@ away.” Reno had adopted the same thick slum rat drawl he had when they grabbed Sephiroth yesterday, add that in with all his ear piercings back in and the extensive tattoo work across his arms and back.. he wasn’t exactly the approachable type at the moment.

He relaxed somewhat at Reno being over there, though now Sephiroth was more concerned about Tseng getting angry - since the surfer seemed almost as if he’d gotten lobotomized. How could anyone not be at least annoyed by now? Well... unless he’d messed up his brain chemistry with one drug or another...

“Sorry dude, you and your boyfriend have some rad tattoos, gotta give me your tattoo artist.” Reno gently squeezed Tseng’s waist, he had been told exactly how painful his tattoo had been. Not exactly the best of memories since it sounded like Wutai didn’t use the guns that he was used to. “Go sit down love... I’ll deal with his idiot.” Knowing what Reno was doing, Tseng grabbed his food and headed over to the table sitting back down next to Sephiroth. “I hate beach bums..”

Sephiroth snorted, smirking, and bit into a jelly-covered slice of toast before he could make a comment. He was fairly sure if he did say something he’d be listening to a five-minute rant on the subject. He thought the moniker ‘beach bum’ suited the blond far better than what he had hesitantly labeled him as.

Grumbling and cursing in Wutain, he went about eating his food, occasionally shooting a nasty glare across the room where the morons had retreated. “Daddy, can I punch him next time?” Rolling his eyes Veld took a long drink from his coffee, “take the advice you were given earlier.. just throw him in the ocean.” Folding his arms over chest, Tseng slumped down in his seat obvious pout on his face. “I should give him to the sharks.” “You have to make sure they have lasers on their head.” Nan shot out, the others laughing. “All I wanted was sharks with friken lasers attached to their head.”

Blinking in confusion, Sephiroth decided this was another of those jokes that would only fail to be properly explained to him. The sort of thing where he'd need to see or read the original material to understand what the hell was so funny. He wasn't sure he ever wanted to meet a shark with a laser on it's head though... He pointedly returned to his food and ignored the aftermath of the unfamiliar joke.

“Tseng, have you not sat him down and watched Austin Powers yet?” Two gun asked, he had seen the same slight confusion when they had been making the jokes about mini me. Tseng shook his head bagel sticking out of his mouth, waiting to speak till he was finished he set the rest down on his plate. “I don’t think it’s a movie Sephiroth would like, I only watched it because you guys made me. I felt like my brain cells were dying through the entire thing.” There were several agreeing nods from around the table. “That’s the point though, it’s so damn stupid it’s funny.” He would never get that, there was a certain point where something was just so damn stupid it was painful to watch. “Well, now that we know he hasn’t watched it, we’ll have to corrupt his mind with the hairy spy.” Katana just stared at Reno, were they really going to scar the poor boy, that was something that once seen you could not unsee.

Sephiroth had the very strong feeling that he should be avoiding others Turks once they returned to Midgar. The things he was hearing made him both morbidly curious - but also want to stay the #%!@ away from any tv until they gave up. If Tseng thought he wouldn't like it - then he was fairly sure he would hate it.
